The General Trade Union of Workers in Textile, Garment & Clothing Industries (the Union) organized six training workshops in Amman, Irbid, and At-Tajamu'at industrial zone on various topics. More than 120 female and male migrant workers (90 female workers) of different nationalities participated in the workshops. Subjects were capacity building, raising awareness of rights and duties, and collective sectoral agreements.
In workshop's opening, Union President Mr. Fathallah Al-Omrani stated that workshops organization is part of the mandate of the Union to provide workers of different nationalities with information on their rights and obligations.
Mr. Al-Omrani added that the purpose of training is to provide participants with information on agreements legal frame, negotiations experiences and skills, valid Labor Law, the experience of the Union in collective work agreements, prioritization of labor demands, Union preparatory procedures, skills and characteristics of the unionist and labor negotiator, standards of successful collective agreements, and strategies used in collective negotiation.
It is noteworthy that Union organizes periodic workshops to educate workers on their rights and duties that reflect positively on workers and businesses.
